Orthodox   Rabbis   Stand   with   Asylum-Seeking
Children   Separated from   their   Families!

Torat Chayim is troubled by recent developments that Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) cannot and does not keep track of migrant children separated from their families. According to the Associated Press, "The Trump administration is detaining immigrant children as young as 1 in hotels before deporting them to their home countries." We cannot abide by the institutional indifference towards families who are separated. By depriving refugees and asylum seekers of basic protection, we rob them of their inherent human dignity.

We have three simple asks for Congress:

1) Legislation that provides transparency on where the children are currently who have been placed in the hotels.
2) The development of a safe transition plan so that these children can be relocated with family members.
3) The simple mandate that no children are deported!

Now more than ever, we must speak out when injustice occurs in our own backyards.
