Over   100  Orthodox   Rabbis   Offering   our   Deepest   Condolences   and Solidarity   with   the   Muslim   Community

​​We, rabbis of Torat Chayim (a global Modern Orthodox rabbinic association with rabbinic members serving around the world), are appalled by the murderous act of terror attacks on Muslims in their own houses of worship in New Zealand during Jum’ah, a time of prayer.
 
We stand with our Muslim colleagues and together with all decent moral human beings, condemn these evil, violent acts of murder. We deeply identify with the profound feelings of shock and anguish when one is savagely attacked in one’s house of worship.
 
We condemn not only these shootings but the Islamophobia at their root. We stand with the Muslim people all over the world and will offer any help in fighting against Islamophobia in our midst.
 
We wish to add that a number of months ago, a synagogue in Pittsburgh was shot up by a white supremacist. We shall never forget the support we received from Imams in our respective communities. We are saddened that such an evil attack on a holy space has been repeated in another venue. This is living proof that violent hatred rarely stops at its first targeted community.
